What data does the Chrome extension capture?

What the Pangram extension accesses and sends when you use it.

Last reviewed Jul 24, 2026

The Chrome extension captures the same core data as any other Pangram scan.. If you've read What data does Pangram collect?, the extension simply applies that same collection to scans you run in your browser. For the automatic feed scanner, we automatically process posts and authors as submitted text, but do not collect any additional data from you.

The data it captures

When you run a scan through the extension, we store:

  • The submitted text — the content you scan for AI detection
  • The scan result — the detection outcome we return to you
  • The scan source — where the scan was run from
  • Account metadata — the user and account details already associated with the instructor's Pangram account

These are the same categories Pangram collects across the product: your submitted content, your results, and the account information already tied to your login.
